8. Just keep doing the thing.

I’m writing most days, but I don’t always know what to post here (*social media). I am told if I want to publish one day, I’m going to need to “get my follower count up”. Doing that is a separate project in itself from the actual writing. It is unromantic, not glamorous, and the hustle side to trying to be an author.

I wonder if I’ll be able to pull it off.
Or if I’ll want to put in the effort it takes from a social media perspective. That’s a different job entirely, and one that frankly doesn’t appeal to me. Yet. Here I am making a reel. Showing up when I can.

On the other hand, I’m competitive. If I want something bad enough, I will find what it takes to really go for it.

Time will tell. I feel committed to writing and honing my craft, for now. I keep telling myself, the best I can do is to just keep writing. The next best thing I can do is to keep trying to share the journey.

If you’re practicing something or have a goal, just keep working at the thing. You don’t have to rush. If you’re doing it for personal fulfillment, find that treasure of fulfillment right now. In the presence of doing the thing.

Keep honing your craft. Let it bring you joy in the small moments and small wins. If building a business has taught me anything, it’s that fulfillment isn’t on the other side of the goal posts.

And also… that perseverance pays off.
